6 Months with Miles
I honestly can’t believe 6 months have already passed since I had Miles. We constantly try to remember life before him and, like when we try to remember life before dating each other, Mike and I have a hard time picturing our past without him.
Comparing Miles now to Miles a few months ago, we’re definitely at a more enjoyable age with him. His stomach is a little less sensitive to things I eat (though cooked tomatoes and dairy are still off the table). He’s getting more confident with sitting up on his own, and has started getting better at crawling. One thing that hasn’t gone away is his fascination with trees, shadows and light. Part of me hopes it never fully goes away.
During his colicky days, Mike used to chant to me that things would get better and that we were almost to those days. 90% of the time it was hard for me to believe him. I sacrificed a lot during that time and postpartum depression was getting harder and harder to battle. He was right, though. It took us a little longer than expected, but at 4 1/2 months Miles started to get better as I got my diet under control. His stomach started being able to process more, his sleep schedule regulated, and he dropped to one wake-up during the night (sometimes none).
I’ll be posting more about his colic later because I feel like it needs to be covered it in hopes that it (1) helps someone else out and (2) is documented somewhere for me to reference to with baby #2, if needed.
In the meantime, I’m going to soak in this new tiny human in front of me, who is intrigued by Dave & Ava and somehow knows how to hold a bottle without much exposure to it before. This kid is constantly surprising me and I can’t wait to see what develops in the next 3 months with him!
We love you, Miles! ^_^
